muting tracks still hearing tracks????

I recorded my band playing a tune, and I wanted to do some overdubs. Everything is cool, but I muted the guitar tracks, but I could still hear them playing, so I muted everything and I could still hear the whole song being played. How can I cut that off ? Or am I doing something wrong? I'm running Cubase LE on a Gateway with a lexicon Omega....thanks in advance.

Are you using send effects on any of the channels?

Yeah its probably your sends. Turn them off.
