Hi all, I got to cash together for a CAD M9 after seeing the special offer on 8thstreet. While going through the ordering process I discovered that they don't ship outside the U.S. and Canada... remembering MF's claim to be able to match or beat any price, I emailed them with 8th streets price for the mic. Their price is $100 more.

Haven't heard back yet...anybody called them on this claim before ? If so, how did it go ?

Cheers,

Nathan

I didn't know that musiciansfriend.com did price matching. I've samedaymusic.com for price matching. they usually beat the price and ship for free.

Yes, Musician's Friend claims it will price-match, but I haven't got them to do it yet. Actually, in one instance they complained to the manufacturer which caused their competition to jack up their price. If you find a better deal, don't involve MF or you'll see that better deal disappear.

They price matched a Line 6 Delay pedal a few years ago, but it only knocked off about $40 or something.

Musician's Fiend *will* match prices,

...BUT, that is only if the vendor you're trying to get them to match prices with is an "authorized" dealer of the item. Every time I've tried to get them to match a price, they email me back a few days later to tell me that the competitor is *not* an authorized dealer, so they refuse my request.

It's happened so many times now, that I just check with my local Guitar Satan to see if they carry the same item, and if they do, they *ALWAYS* match the best price I can find online (be sure to take a printed copy of the competitor’s web price with you), ...which seems odd, since Guitar Satan and Musician's Fiend are basically one and the same.

Go figure....

No reply. I'll email them again.

Thanks for the replies. Surely a distributer the size of 8thStreet is an authorized dealer ?

I'll let you guys know anywho.

Cheers,

Everyone has their opinions,...but,...in my expierience,..MF doesnt live up to ANY claims they make. I've gotten broke stuff,..used stuff,...etc. etc.
All I can say is that I wont be doing business with them no matter what "deal" they come up with.

take 'er easy,...

I have only asked MF one time to match the best internet price and they did so......It saved me $50 on a set of studio monitors....plus they matched the ship free offered by their competition!

I place all my MF orders by phone and use them for "commodity stuff".

I've had excellent luck with this at Music123. I've emailed them with a url to a better price than theirs and they always beat that price, not just match it. The down side is that they don't have much high end stuff.

I just bought a Traynor YCV80 from MF.com last week. gear1review.com had the same amp for $649, while MF was selling it for $749. MF was unresponsive to emails (non-responsive, that is) so I called them.

The customer support girl was very nice and they agreed to take $100 off the price of the amplifier. She even gave me her name so that I could contact her directly when I called back to place the order (you have to place your order over the phone in order to do the price matching thing).

Since this costs them money, they definitely make it harder than it could be. The form to send an email about price matching is pretty hidden, and its misleading as to where to direct the email (in the "contact us" page, its listed under "technical support", but in the drop-down menus, it's listed under "customer support").

I agree, I thought the same thing while I was emailing them...but to be fair to them, they replied to my email and included a ref. no. that could be quoted over the phone when ordering. This number is valid for two weeks and will get me $100 off their list price ($400).

And they'll ship to Ireland.

:D
