I tried out Cakewalk Express Gold 8.0 and I really like the layout and ease of use and stability after some programs I have tried. I want to invest in a multitrack audio capable application and I am wondering, does anyone know the differences between Music Creator and Home Studio 9? It is hard to tell from the web site. I need to be able to record then overdub 1 or 2 audio tracks at a time for a total of 6-8 tracks of audio plus MIDI. I need reverb and EQ although compression would be nice too. I want to be able to export the final mix to wave to burn a CD. MP3 can come later.
Also, I am running on limited resources:
Pentium 200MMX
64 Meg RAM
2.0 Gig Hard Drive
Turtle Beach Montego II Sound Card
Windows NT 4.0 SP 6 or '98 Second Edition

Will this bucket of bolts do what I need or do I need to take on a third job? Thanks, Bill C

As I was saying . . .

before I got Fudgin' Bumped, dagnab it . . .

Welcome to the hr.com bbs Bill Colbert,
Cakewalk is bandied about the boards with more frequency, enthusiasm and fervor than mc. I do believe that CW is the preferred software 'twixt the two. 200MMX technology may well have been on the cutting edge some 4-5 yrs ago, but it is damn near extinct anymore. Practitioners of the art recommend a minimum 600 meg processor with at least a 20 gig harddrive.

If I had to choose betwwen a 3rd job or a 200MMX,
I would load that MMX up with all manner of self inflicted madness, reformat it a few times, cajole it and talk to it nicely to keep it alive. You take on a third job, you would have no time to sleep or eat - let alone record.
