I am getting a driver in use by other program and my record button is the light gray and unable to be moused over. I had no problems until XP pro became my OS. please help

Do you have "Share Drivers with other Programs" enabled under Options -> Audio -> Advanced?
And you might want to upgrade your soundcard-drivers. What soundcard do you have?
