multitracking using an analog mixer mixer and CEP

ok i know its one of the pet peeves here but i have a connection question...

anyways i am trying to figure out how i can conect my fostex 280 analog mixer through my soundblaster audigy in such a way that if i plug a bunch of mics into my mixer when i hit record, each track on my mixer records into seperate tracks on cool edit pro.

i dont know if this is possible but i hope so. anyways heres a list of the outputs/inputs my gear has and then if anyone could please let me know what i need to connect all this with and which spots to plug it all into and even how to set up CEP so it detects al the seperate tracks, i'd GREATLY appreciate it

I don't think you can do it although if someone knows how you can I'd sure like to know. I believe the best that you'll get out is one stereo track cool edit. It's not cool edit's fault, it's your sound card. Your card is similar to my M-Audio Audiophile, and I was bummed that I couldn't do what you want to do.

yeah i figured my sound card wouldnt be able to do it. it bums me out though cuz i spent a lot on this sound card and only to find it doesnt do what i thought it would do. anyone have any suggestins for a good soundcard that would be able to do this? and roughly how much they cost

Depending on how many tracks you're looking to record simultaneously, you may find the Delta 44 working for you with 4 ins and 4 outs at $230 which is really a steal. The delta 66 is good too at $300. You shoudl also consider how man outs you have on your mixer to assign to the ins on your card.
