hey there, i have a bit of a question for any one who wants to put there 2cents in, Ive currently got a audigy 2 zs, but am looking to upgrade so i can record multiple tracks similtainesly. drums mostly and so i can record bands "live". throw sum different suggestions at me... What should i consider?

You need to start by determining the number of input and output connections you will need.

The number of inputs will determine the maximum number of individual tracks you can record SIMULTANEOUSLY.

So, for ex., if you wanted to mic a drum kit with a mic on the kick, one on the snare, and two overheads for cymbals and toms, you would need at least 4 inputs in your sound card. If you also wanted to record bass and guitar at the same time, you would need 6 inputs. If you wanted vocals as well, you would need additional inputs for those. And so on.

Once you decide this, the choices of sound cards starts to narrow.

thanks for the grammer mate, i'm a bit dodgy on some of that stuff!
probably want 8-10 inputs and not really to worried about the outputs

would a cheapo behringa pre amp do or would it not be worth it?

Digi 002R....if you have the bucks..makes you compatible with most professional studios.
