multitrack recording with or without dmx6fire

Hello, I've got a terratec dmx6 fire soundard plugged into a 4month old computer. I would really like to do some multitrack recording. I have cubase sx, but it won't recognise my sound card. It shows that it knows it's there, but it wont accept any audio signals from it. So instead I have used the standard microsoft alternative, and cubase now recognises all my inputs. However it doesn't recognise them individually. I have heard that it might be because my sound card has what is called a AC97 chip on it. Apparently this chip makes it that you can only record from one sourse at a time. I have managed to record from more than one sourse, but they both end up on the same channel / track. The DMX6Fire has more than one input, but it maybe that they all work together. It may be that I need to get myself another sound card, like the inca88, which simply has 8 out, 8 in. Would I have the same problem with this? Could anyone please give me a bit of advice, as to whether I can use my current sound card, or if I need to get another one, in which case what is my best choice.

Many Thanks

Dan

Doesnt look possible.... I think you'd need an external mixer.
