Knows very little
ok, i have an alesis multimix 16firewire mixer/interface.
as you probably know i can only use 8 channels of recording at once in cubase. right now the setting is for all 8 to be mono channels. my question is, how can i set it up so i can use one of the stereo channels as an input to the software and then 7 of the mono channels?

im new to multitrack recording and i come from a usb stereo mix type of setup, so i dont know how to assign the channels form the mixer properly. i got this far so im thinking it might not be that difficult to assign a stereo channel instead of a mono channel.

any help on this is greatly appreciated:D

EDIT:

i also know that the way the channels are grouped together as input to the computer that i can use two mono channels and use that as a stereo, but i want a channel for only stereo.
does this make sense?

I think it's in devices > Connections. From there select the input tab, and create a stereo input, then assign the relevant inputs in your hardware to it. The stereo input in your hardware will probavbly show up as 2 inputs, 1 for left channel, 1 for right.
