Multitrack effects question

I would like to experiment with a variety of different effects in real time on one clip in multitrack mode. I only want to preview one effect at a time, however I would like to switch back and forth to other effects without stopping playback.

What's the best way?

Just apply the realtime effects on the track that you want to preview and then in the effects mixer, just bypass the ones you don't want each time. This will only put the effect on that's not bypassed.
