I posted this in the n-track forum, since I am using it with these soundcards, but I guess this would be a better forum according to slackmaster. Anyway...

I am using a soundblaster live!, Turtle Beach Montego II, and my motherboards audio(CMedia). All three are full duplex and are able to do 16/41000. I eventually want to record from all three, but for right now I would settle for at least one to work! My problem is that I can only here sound coming in and out from my SBLive. Nothing else seems like it is working. When I check my rec vu meter in ntrack nothing happens. I have checked out the sound mixer to make sure that all the levels are right. I am using the aureal audio mixer which controls all three. I have no idea what to do. Please help!

First question, why do u want to do this?....

Second squestion, do you have something going into all 3 cards?...

Hey Gidge,

The first question was answered in the n-track forum. Multiple channels.

Yes, I have something connected to all three soundcards. I am trying to connect my tascam tmd1000 to the SPDIF of the SBLive!, Line out of my tascam portastudio to the line in of the montego, and my mini mixer to the line in of the CMedia.

Ok, are all three cards showing up in the Aureal mixer?....also, go into your control panel and go into systems/device manager/sound systems and see if they are reporting any conflicts such as IRQ difficulties....also, have you selected all 3 devices in N-Tracks preferences under wave devices?....

I don't have any answers to your specific question, but...

I have a Delta 1010, a GL 496, and an I/o magic (soundblaster knock off) all running in my machine. the soundblaster knock off shares an IRQ with my video card, the Delta, GL, and Highpoint controller all share an IRQ. All work perfectly. My hardware gets along with each other, yours may not be, tell it to behave and beat it with a stick (just kidding)

If are are having IRQ difficulties, move things around in the slots, and/or tweak your BIOS. I did a little tweaking in my BIOS, somewhat blindly, and solved a problem I was having with My RAID controller card. I count myself lucky.

No IRQ problems here, and all 3 of the devices are showing up in Aureal's Mixer. I checked out all the wave devices in N-track, but which one do I use? I have all of these in Wave out devices and Wave in devices:

Asio Direct X Full Duplex
Asio Multimedia
Aureal Audio
C-Media PCI
SB Live! Wave Device
Wave Mapper

Wave mapper is selected (has the number 1 next to it).

Could it be in my software somewhere. Maybe aureal's mixer was installed with errors? I am just guessing here.

Thanks for the replies guys. :-)

Ok, I am an idiot. I played around in n-track a little more and read the words. I now have all three devices selected: SBLive! Wave Device, Aureal Audio, and C-Media PCI. There is still the input problem though. The only input that seems to be working on the SBLive! is the Mic2 input on the Live Drive. With C-Media the only working input is the Line in, and on the Montego nothing seems to be working. I double checked aureal mixer and all the mutes and levels were where they should be.

Multible Cards

It's OK to use multible cards if the irq and slots are conflict free. I'm using three cards. One Multiwav Digital and Two Turtle Beach Tahiti's. The biggest thing you'll find keeping the cards prime is the clock as someone mentioned earlier. The lower end cards and half the line of the Soundblaster stuff don't have high quality crystals and even though they may be close....they'll drift around 44.1 so add another card and that drift throws both cards out of sink within 4 minutes or less. If your card is better qulaity then chances are it's sync'd pretty tight. Also remember with multible cards you have different quality inputs with the AD/DA converters.

For same or there abouts you can invest in a good rig with a breakoutbox. Speaking of which is there anyone in here with any Hoontech boxes? I was looking at the SoundTrack Audio DSP24 + ADC&DAC2000. Anyone hear these yet? Cheers!
