Okay here is the deal. My parents puter has an SB live value in it. My puter has an SB live value. I have a 16 bit ISA card which i can put into my parents puter, and take the SB Live. However when i do this, and install the second soundblaster, only one of them will work(I can get them to work separately, but not both at the same time)I installed the drivers again, but that is still only letting one card run at a time. I would really apreciate some step by step help or some instructions on how to get both of these cards working, as i would reallylike to have 4 inputs to record with.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Good Call

I would like to do that gidge, however i already have all of the cards listed above, so i dont need to put any more money towards my sound cards. Also i doubt i can pull in enough cash from two sblives to get a sanat cruz.

Thanks Anyways

Both cards are probably using the same IRQ as assigned by default when you installed them. My guess would be to try & reassign a different IRQ to one of the cards if you have an open one available. I know by experience you can have multiple devices sharing a single IRQ, BUT only one of them at a time will work. This sounds like the case with your two SB Lives.

Cool

How would i go about reassigning the IRQ(i am new to hardware installation, i am not totally computer illiterate though). Could you giveme a step by step thing to change that?/

What OS is your PC running on?

Unfortunately, I am only familiar with Win 95 & 98 and don't really know if the steps would be the same for Win 2K or Win NT. Let me know though.

I am running*gasp* ME
if you give me the steps, and tell me which menus to select and such(i know i have to go into the BIOS) then i can get it from there.

Sorry, not that familiar with Windows ME, but this might be similar in ME as in Win98. Just try it.

1) right click on 'My Computer' (from desktop)
2) click on 'Properties'
3) click the 'Device Manager' tab
4) double click the word 'Computer' (should be at top) & you'll get a new window
5) click the 'View Resources' tab & make sure the white circle is selected for 'IRQ'
6) scroll down & look for an open IRQ (if there is one, it simply will not be assigned.. as in it will be missing)
7) Now cancel out of this window & go back to the 'Device Manager' and scroll down if you have to, but get to the '+' by the 'Sound, video, & game controllers' entry & click it one time to expand the entries
8) Look for & hilight (click it once) one of the SB live cards
9) Now click the 'Properties' button
10) then click the 'Resources' tab
11) Unselect the box (if it is selected) by where it says: 'use automatic setting'
12) click the words that say 'interrupt request' (hilight it) and you'll see what IRQ is currently assigned at this time
13) Now click the 'change setting' button & reassign the value
14) then you would probably have to reboot even if it doesn't tell you to & I'm not sure if it does or not.

When you click the 'change setting' button, you may get a message that says you can not change it. If so, then I do not know what it will take at this point to change it. It may just not let you. I tried to change mine today just for the heck of it, & it wouldn't let me. I then checked my BIOS settings (hit DEL key at bootup) to see if there was anything that could be changed to maybe allow me to change IRQ settings, but didn't find anything. So you might even check your BIOS to see if there is something in there. I really don't know if there would be or not, & I'd be careful as to what you change. It might screw other things up.

Anyway, that's all I know. In the past I have been able to change IRQ's in this way, but sometimes it just won't let you for whatever reason.

Hope it helps.
