I've decided to buy M-Audio's Omni Studio therefore elimating the need for a mixer. While I was weighing up the pros and cons I got to thinking that I may want more Line Inputs in future. Now I believe people are running multiple Delta's. So here's the question, if I add a Delta 44 to an exsisting Delta 66/Omni i/o setup - will I be able to route those channels to the monitor channels etc on the Omni?

I sent the same question to M-Audio's tech support - their answer was "Buy a Delta 1010 and a 24 channel 8 bus mixer". Now where is that winning lottery ticket.....

i'd think you'd be able to get that to go.

however, if you are going to be recording more than one or two tracks at a time , a mixer might be really handy...

The Omni I/O is essentially just a boiled-down mixer -- and only designed to hook to the back of one Delta PCI card. Each Delta you put in has its own hardware output that needs to connect to a breakout box, either the standard Delta box or an OMNI i/o. Nothing magic you can do to make one breakout box or OMNI i/o box act like two.

However, if you had another Delta 44, with its own breakout box, perhaps you could use the aux ins on the Omni to route everything together through the OMNI...
