multimix8 usb not working >_<

so i just purchased a brand new alesis multimix8 usb mixer and when i plug in my mics to the preamps and power it up, i get no responce, the led's arnt lighting up, and i have no signs that the mixer is picking up anything from the mics at all. i have fooled arround with all the levels and settings, is there something im doing wrong? (btw im using sure sm57 and 52beta mics brand new out of the box and brand new livewire cables fresh out of the box)

First, make sure you're using enough gain to get an adequate signal from the mic(s). If that's not it, make sure the little button "mix" is pressed. (it's right by the headphone/ctrl room volume knob)

If nothing after that, let me know.

Also ensure if you are using mic's that require phantom power, flip on the phantom switch on the back of the unit.

When mine arrived from MF I had a bad power supply pack, sent it back and got a new one in a few days. Not sure if you mentioned the power LED lighting up or just the peak and level LED's.
