I'm looking for an affordable multichannel comp to take on simple compressing & limiting tasks, nothing particulary fancy, just to tame and top stuff here and there...

The behringer multicom doesn't cost much... but I think I know what I'm going to hear bringing the "b" word in on this board...

The S-com 4 from samsung seems a good one too...

One contender seems pretty cool: does anybody know anything about this 8 channel optical compressor?

Any suggestions from owners/fellow hunters/etc :)?

If you want quality, get a bunch of RNCs for $175 each. If you want quantity, get any other brand.

Yeah I'm planning on getting a rnc for where compression really matters, but I want something I can afford for simple subtle adjusting too...

hi there,

today i used some behringer multicoms on a mixdown,
god they totally suck, i mean, ok, they work, but jezus
they disgust me...

there also was that samson s-com in the rack
(i bought me one this week, waiting for it to arrive)
this machine kinda has the same functions but it did do its job
a bit better
that samson compressor is just a cheap one, bought mine for €70 from ebay..
there's this built in de-esser....didn't put it on vocals yet,
there's also some sort of ...enhancer, but honestly,
didn't do really much,
the gate works....but sometimes i had some nasty sounds coming out of it,
the compressor works, but not as decent as my dbx machines

all by all, the samson is nice if u can get it for cheap,

oh, there's also the samson plus, isn't that the one with 8 compressors?
good for live i think

check www.samson.com (sh*t, thats not it, google for it ;))

other compressors i'd suggest, i'm happy with my DBX166Xl's,
$167 New on ebay
