Hello, I've been banging my head on the wall for 2 days on this, and can't find the solution in any previous threads.

I bought the Alesis MultiMix 16 USB 2.0 specifically because it outputs all 16 inputs over the USB port, and Cubase LE4 comes bundled with it.

I'm running on a MacBook with OS 10.6.6, so I'm using the latest (beta) Mac driver from the Alesis website.

Cubase recognizes the Alesis device, and shows all 18 device inputs in VST Connections and Device Setup.

I've added the 8 mono and 1 stereo inputs that I need, looking just like the setup in the Alesis manual.

The problem is that I can only record on the "Default Input Bus". All of the inputs have active sounds coming in, but I only see waveforms on the one that is set to "Default Input Bus". Recording and playback is fine, but only one input at a time.

I must be doing something wrong, or I'm thinking about it the wrong way. Why is this so hard?

Help!!!

Sorry if this is a stupid question but are the record enable lights lit on other channels? On each channel have you selected the proper input bus (inspector window to left)?

Yes, all channels are record enabled. All I need to do to record a channel is make it the default bus, but this stops recording on the previous channel.

Hmm..Every track should be able to record off of any bus at once. Though input to track from only one bus at a time. When you say selecting default bus stops recording on other channels, it seems something is setup wrong.

Sorry if this seems redundant but it is all I can think of:
All newly created tracks use default input bus. Mono 1 or stereo 1. Each track has separate input and output. Select track/select desired input/output buss on left window. Enable record and enable monitor. Input from that bus should be seen in meter to left of waveform.

This seems to be a Mac problem. I installed Cubase LE 4 on a windows laptop and it works fine.

thanks for the help.
