Ive long been interested in picking up some kind of analog synth well "virtual" analog synth...i have plenty of soft synths but i think im just looking for something else......the style that i really play with my band is kind of industrial, real aggresive sounds , real distorted types of sounds...maybe along the lines of nine inch nails or ministry or atari teenage riot etc. etc. ..

ANYWAY..before i go on for too long (too late i know)

Now i see the ms2000r (the rack version) is down to under 500 at alot of places...or right about 500...thats way down from when I first started looking...

i understand it only has 4 poly phony but i have plenty of tracks and this would be recording only so im thinking i can just layer.

also the vocoder seems to be a neat lil addition

most of you guys probably have more experience in this field than i do and im wondering if holding out and buying a Nord 2/3 or an Acess snyth or a Waldorf or something would be in my best interest or if the korg at 500 is a steal and just go with it...

ive played on a ton of these synths and i think there all an upgrade to what i have , i just dont wanna spend 500 bucks and a few months later feel like i got ripped i should of waited...

I have had my Ms200R for about a year now, it is hugely flexible and has that lovely Korg sound. Great reviews when it first came out, and with the price dropping then seems a good buy. As with all these things try it out firest to see if it suits you. There is a group disccusion page at Yahoo http://groups.yahoo.com/group/korgms2000

each manufacturer has it's different style something else to check out around that price range is the Roland SH32. I haven't heard one yet but as soon as my local dealer in the UK gets one I'll be down there.

well.. i think youd really like some distortion and gated reverb effects on yo' synths if you do industrial...
perhaps the A-Station/K-Station is more abt for thins thing...

check it out... 8 voice unison... mmm.. note that all oscillators can be switched to double oscillators, which makes 6 oscillators per voice... yum yum.. a little unison there and you got 46 oscillators + 8 times fm... nasty, nasty, nasty...
i have a supernova I myself and it can kick the living crap out of almost all the other synths i've tried.. the a-station has got some extra wicked features like FM (perfect for industrial) and syncable chorus, flanger and pan.. except it's just 1 part, have no highpass/bandpass filter (but that'll perhaps come in the future upgrades) and no quad chorus..

having said that, the ms2000 is also a very nice piece... i'd never buy one myself though...
