is paradise . . . I have the bluetooth receiver crammed behind my rack, and no problems with reception whatsoever. So much better than the old wireless keyboard & mouse, where I had to keep the receiver 8 inches from the mouse :(

I'm free! I'm finally free!

Well, as soon as I figure out how to run a monitor without a cable, that is :o

That 8 inch thing sucks. I tool back the wireless logitec KB/Mouse back right after I got it. It was the best one staples had according to the sales geek.
A few days later I went to W-Mart and they had one for $15 so I picked it up and it works up to 3ft away.

What kind of distance do you get on the BlueTooth ?

I am typing this from 15 ft away. I can't read the montiror, so please excuse the typos, it's me, not the keyboard. :)

N am upstairs :D

OK back at the desk. That last line should read "Now I am upstairs". Not too bad, considering . . .

Basically I can put this anywhere in the studio I want :)

Seems OK. I don't like the feel of the wheel, but it works fine. It is not an ambidextrous design, I don't know an excuse for that  but I generally mouse right-handed anyway . . .

What kind of crappy wireless keyboard were you using?

I was using a $100 Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo in my living room with the computer and receiver in a bedroom (around 20ft) with no issues back in 2000...

Still use one today with the same range.

I have the same issues with my wireless mouse. In the interest of preserving battery life, they cut the transmitter's power. It sucks when you can't even move your mouse to the edge of your desk without losing the signal... I'm gonna get a bluetooth set as soon as I can afford one.

No, it ain't. It's not symmetrical, and is uncomfortable left-handed. There are no right-side thumb buttons.

It was a standard MS wireless. I have had it for years, I used to get about six feet on the mouse, a little further on the keyboard. But I don't seem to get the same range anymore, plus my new setup doesn't have a direct line of sight (glass top desk, keyboard tray), which seemed to make matters worse.

None of that is a problem at all with the bluetooth. Like I said, the receiver is behind my rack, partially shielded by the metal case, and I used the keyboard on another floor of my house :)
