There is a local MS-16 I'm thinking about picking up. It comes with 12 tapes and a snake and a few other things. I'm actually interested in getting the "other" things and selling the MS-16 to cover my cost.

Anybody know a reasonable asking price on ebay for a MS16? The 2 on there now are pickup only but I would do the shipping thing for a real but actual cost....\\ of course heads etc effect the value....

Oh hey I think I know which MS-16 you are talking about. I am pretty sure that is at least the second time I have seen that one advertised in the past 6 months. You can definitely buy a 32" LCD tv cheaper than his asking price.

I have seen them listed on ebay around the $1000 range. I might be wrong but, it seems like there was one on the Seattle craigslist for $600 a few months back. I don't know what they actually sell for though. Prepal says something like $1300 on average with the price trend moving down.

I am thinking the MS-16 might be more difficult to sale than a 1/2" or 1/4" machine. What do you think?

Yes, I suspect that the 1" 16 track format is harder to sell due to the smaller user base. (lots of us home recording folks want an 8 track but have no need or $ for 16 track).

I might just offer about half the asking price on speculation.

Then again I bought a 38 that way and I still have it Putting it to some use).

How the mighty have fallen. :o

A machine that originally sold for between $10K to $15K, depending on options, is now only worth 1200 bones or less on ebay?

At that price, I'd rather drop it off a cliff then sell mine.

Cheers! :)
