15 hours?

"Recording to 40GB internal 3.5 in. HD offering more than 15 hours of 8-track recording with CD quality (16 bit/44.1kHz)."

Is that truly 15 hours of 8 track recording ? Or is that 15 hours of track recording i.e. 1.87 hours of full 8 track recording.

This sounds interesting. No doubt it will get to New Zealand sometime in the year 2011......!

I'd have to believe it's over 15 hours of 8 track recording,...

like it says.

I guess the only way to find out is to buy one. So somebody buy one and let us know!

(I would, but I can't right now) :(

Junplugged made the point on another MR8 thread,...

that the MR8HD does not appear to run on battery power!!

I responded to that too. He made a good case for keeping the old red bitch around... although she can eat some batteries...

Yeah, I saw that, but thought I'd drop a line about it here.

It makes an attractive case for buying the new MR8HD and using the std MR8 as a sidecar type device. Isn't there some expanded or more versatile capability you could get by using them together? Just wondering about the possibilities.

Also,... by the description, there's a new "bounce-forward" feature on the MR8HD, where you can take a FULL 8-TRACKS and bounce them forward to tracks 7/8 on a NEW SONG. This would be a super handy improvement over the previous bouncing method. Eh?

That does sound interesting. If the pre amp in this thing are worth a damn, I may get one. I don't like learning a complicated machine, so the MR-8 was the perfect choice for me when I got into digital. I guess I will have to see what the future brings. If digital keeps up with pc's as far as technological advances, the next couple years should be interesting...

everyone with a fostex MR8 will be able to trade in their units for this..

not. lol :D
but it would be cool huh?
i just couldnt resist..sorry guys.
im so sick of my MR8 i couldnt even touch this new one, no matter how much better it is. :/

gotta have it

Yep, it's out there, or will be in about 8 weeks. The 40GB hard drive, 4 XLR inputs, are 4-track simul. record are enough for me, and for $400, kicks. Not bad. Gotta get away from these flashcards.
