i have been using my MR8 lately for the first time since i got it. i have a few questions if anyone knows the answers.

first, when i record tracks 1-6 to 7/8, it seems like the only way to do this is to temporarily create twice the data in memory. in other words, i am recording the information on tracks 1 to 6, then re-recording all of it onto 7/8 while it still remains on 1-6. then i have to dump 1-6. then i convert 7/8 to a WAV file.

am i doing this right? can i cut and paste rather than use the bounce function? (when i try to cut and paste it only lets me paste on either 7 or 8 but not 7/8 as a stereo file.)

can i perform this operation while simultaneously deleting files 1-6?

the problem that i am having is obviously lack of space. if i don't simultaneously bounce and delete, i have twice the data at one time, thus limiting overall space.

thanks for any thoughts.

I know how frustrating it can get with the 128 card. Do you not use the computer for mixing? Honestly, that's the only thing that has saved my sanity. Don't forget, when you bounce to 7/8 there's 2 tracks....then when you convert there's two tracks, eats some space on that 128 card in a hurry! To answer your question, no you cant perform a bounce/delete.

thanks for the reply, that is what i thought. what program do you use to mix on the computer? that is my next logical step.

N-track is what a lot of people on here use. N-track can be downloaded at www.fasoft.com . It is very easy to use and somewhat self explanatory. Other people use clubtracks but in only excepts 8 tracks. The only other question would be if your computer will run n-track (I don't know how computer intensive clubtracks is?). It should work well if you have 400mhz+ processor and 128+mb of RAM.

I use n-Track as well....I'm not all that proficient with it yet, but I'm learning.

memory

dont forget to delete the unused tracks before you bounce them, this function saves a lot of memory, because of the UNDO function the mr8 saves the last version of the song incase you make a mistake. go to song tracks delete unused and it will free up enough memory to bounce down

thanks all. i downloaded the free version of N-tracks to try it out. i am trying to register it but can't find the codes to do so. so it goes.

dave, i have gotten quite familiar with the delete unused function. it takes massive space to keep those old tracks for the undo function.

thanks again --
