If I want to mixdown to the tape deck on my home stereo, do I go stereo outs of the mr8 and use 1/4 to stereo mini plug adapters, or do I get a mini plug cable and use stereo mini plug to 1/4 adapters, or something else? Thanks.

tape

i just did mostly as you discribed, i used the monitor outs, into the back of my tape deck, with 1/4 plug adaptors in the mr8 other end hooked right up to tape deck

(this is a great way to try your mix out on different steroe's and car systems for final tweeking before going to a cd)

outs

ideally, you would go from the MR-8 main outs, using a 1/4 cable, into the RCA inputs (via adapter or a cord with 1/4 to RCA). this is the best impedence match.

if you go into a MIKE input, you will overload the input stages pretty much. you will have to watch the levels VERY closely as it will distort easily.

tape

there is no MIKE input on my cassette deck? just the two audio plugs , the monitor outs on the mr8 are the main outs not headphones

What if you were to run the mr8 back into a 1/4" stereo channel on a mixer and use the rca tape deck in's/out's? That's what i do. I can also eq it a little if i need to. Is this a wrong way to do it?

bingo

thats what i used to do before i started mixing on the pc, works great, also ran throught my outboard effects rack on my pa , compression does wonders also. pretty decent results....

thats the way to think about your gear, using what you do have to its potential, rathere then always hunting down new gear (gas) gear accusition syndrome
