hey, dres

I dont know if you get this alot, but your music always reminds me of theoe old "Mentos(?)" candy commercials.

The recording sounds very well, but I think more effects processing should be used during mixing. Right now everything sounds well tracked, panned, and EQed, but it doesn't have that "demension" quality to it yet if you know what I mean.

check out this site and listen to the samples there, you will know what I mean

Hi people... sorry it's taking so long to reply .. life has been very hecktic lately with job offers and overseas travel on the menu ... my brain is full. :(

A1A2 : thanks for listening .... this song ain't finished yet ... just wait till you hear Gidge's guitar. I will hopefully post a new mix before the weekend.

Gidge: just listened to your mockups ... they sound great. check you pm's.... Phil Collins ?? ... really ?

I think there`s plenty of room for another guitar playing a simple counter-rythym on the 8's if you`d pan out just a little more toward the sides, then you can lay the electric in pocket. The snare is a bit dominant, or bring the singing and the rythym guitar up a tad. bass sounds nice too.

I like the bass gtr sound, but feels it kinda rumbles along unappropriately in parts of this song. I also feel that there are sections where a different choice of notes might work better (like the third measure of your 4 bar measure in your verses).

Recording sounds (in a good way) very dry and upfront. The vocals could stand some "warmness" (how do you do that??!! ) as they sound a little thin at times, comparitively to the rest of the music. Maybe just a "smidgen" of noticeable reverb might work....maybe not.

Nice pop sounding tune. I personally didn't hear the Phil Collins reference.

I think some stuff like a nice B3 sound in "appropriate" areas, lead gtr licks, here and there...maybe a little more production stuff (without the need to go crazy) might help add to the song as it stands.

Nice stuff, Dres...:)

This is shaping up to be a very nice song. Drums don't sound too bad. A little dry sounding, but you aren't probably done with the tune yet so. I can tell that this is going to probably make the keepers folder when it's done. It's coming along nicely.

Toki987 : thanks for listening ... yeah I realised after I did that mix that the vocals were now too quiet ... it's a fine balance to be sure. Gidge has done some really nice electric guitar that will be mixed in soon.

mixmkr : I agree entirely with what your saying. The bass is woolly in parts .. the whole song is deliberately dry .. but maybe too much and my tiny voice needs all the warmth it can get.... very good observations. I too have thought about adding organ ... I'm going to see how it sounds after Gidge's guitar is added. Thanks for the encouragement ... stay tuned for the next mix.

Jagular : Thanks mate ... look out for the next mix... Gidge has done some nice guitar work. Should be posted in a day or two.
