MR-8 Tracks Help

Hello,
I am wondering, I record track 1 2 34 and so on, when I want to record 5 and 6 how do I seperate them, like if I record on the 5/6 track ,, track 6 is empty? same as 7/8?
I gotta be missing something here!I know they pan to left on 5 and 7,, but how can I tell the unit to leave track 5 alone and record track 6? same as 7 and 8? I appreciate the help!

What I have done...

OK,,,,, I used input A for tracks 1,2,3,4 and 5, and 7.
Supposedly, in the manual, I should use Input B for 6 and 8.
So I did that, and when I record tracks 6 and 8, Tracks 5 and 7 get wiped out????
I know there must be a way to record all 8 tracks easily, I must be missing something!

I don't think you can record mono on tracks 5 to 8. 5/6 is a stereo pair, as is 7/8.

Maybe you could record mono tracks on 1 and 2, or 3 and 4, then move them as a stereo pair to 5/6 or 7/8, but this would probably only be useful if you wanted to record 8 discrete tracks for later transfer to your computer (with Wav Manager) for mixdown. Otherwise your two mono tracks would be panned hard left and right. (I think, as my MR8 hasn't arrived yet, and I'm only reading the PDF manual I got off the Fostex website.)
