on a file that I named FOSTEX_FEVER on my Compact Flash Card, but once I put it back in my MR-8 it doesn't work. The original Demo Song FOSTEX_FEVER Doesn't Play!!! Is there something I am doing wrong? There is a folder on my flash card that used to be a protected song, titled "D" and it is still there, buyt when I look on my MR-8 there is only one song, FOSTEX_FEVER so what the @#$% am I doing wrong??? Can someone please help me out???

Very Confused
Chris

I don;t really know where to start. I need more info. The files stuff is way to complicated, it is not suppossed to be that hard. DO you have the fostex wav manager that you can download for free off their website?

What have you done from step 1?

My MR-8 was tested in the store and they erased the demo song anyways. The menu will give you an option to open another song have you tried that?

Has the instruction book helped at all?

I have a Mac, so I can't download the WAV Manager, it automatically turns them into WAVs for me. I aready erased the Demo Song, but someone said that that was the code for it, because I wanted to hear it again. So, I tried copying that code onto my Flash Card and then inserting it in my MR-8, but to my dismay the song didn't play. Other people said it worked for them, and I am wondering why it never worked for me.

I am not entirely sure that it will work. I never even heard the demo song anyways.

my advice is you will probably just go ahead to move on. As long as you have a way of x-ferring your MR-8 track wave files to your mac you have a good start. Now if you have a music editing program that allows you to sync those files to gether and mix them to your finished song you will be all set.

I have never heard the demo song. Apparently it's awful, so I doubt you're missing much, except maybe a good laugh. My advice Chris is to get cracking and go make some music. I doubt it's worth the effort. :)

The demo song is stored on the cf card....once erased, there aint no callin it back.

Hi folks,

The Fostex_Fever demo for the MR-8 is actually quite good and was helpful to me in assessing the unit's capability. I don't think Waldo would mind if I posted it at nowhere radio for a couple of days considering it is of educational value for Mr-8 owners who haven't heard it, but I'd want to check it out with him 1st. If you think this would benefit you at all, leave a post here and I'll obtain permission from Waldo .
I also have the individual tracks (8 of them) in .wav format (51.mb), maybe I could compress and email them to you but you would need an accomodating email server and a multitrack program on your computer to open them and dump them back into the MR-8. I would bet that Matt @ Fostex would send you an email with a file of the song which would be infinitly easier. He's been very helpful to me.

peace,
flat-9

you can also check it out on my site http://www.bumswithguns.com in the media section. shortcut: http://www.bumswithguns.com/media.php <- it's at the very bottom of that page.

if you want all the mr8 files for fostex fever, let me know and i will just zip up the folder (i backed it up on my computer) and send you a link to where you can download it. once you unzip it, you can just throw the folder on your cf card.

Looks like Fostex has a Mac version of Wav Manager now!

http://www.fostex.co.jp/int/software/dloadmen.html

Also, does anyone know anything about the new update on this page? It says it's v1.05! But when you go to the MR-8 page on the Fostex international website it pops up a window telling you about the 1.03 update. Weird...

mac

i think your problem is conversion, macs can read most pc files but pcs cant read macs, your wav file from the mac to the mr 8 will never work, i think, im a mac guy also so im interested in this situation,

wav

that confirms it, i read the pdf with the mac wav manager, it stated the mr 8 will not read the wav files from a mac only from a pc

possible solution

If you have just a few wav files you wanted to work with, you could email them to yourself and open them in a PC app of some kind, then save as a PC wav file.

I know that's a ton of trouble, but if that's the only way to rescue your tracks....?
