MR-8 Conversion

My question is, how does the MR-8 store the recordings on the card? Is it a format that is not useful to a computer and if so then where is the conversion done (on the machine or on the computer). I just bought a boss br-864 and I recorded a live show which was 2 one hour sets so I have 2 tracks both of which are too big to be converted on the machine itself. I even took one of the tracks off of the card and stored it on my computer to free up some space and it still says not enough space . I will probably exchange the 864 for the mr-8 because of the price tag, the dual xlr inputs on the mr-8 and if it is possible to convert the songs on the computer as opposed to on the machine itself then that would make a huge difference.
Thanks,
Jack

pretty sure

i'm pretty sure the files are saved on the CF as a .wav file. you can transfer files to and from the computer using a program (free from fostex) called wave manager.

one thing you may want to note

not to try and turn you away, the MR-8 is a great machine.

fostex does not compress the audio like the others. so with a factory 128mB card, you get approximately 24 TRACK minutes per card. Divide that 24 minutes up into 8 tracks, and you get 3 minutes.

just letting you know up front so you ain't surprised!

A one gig card(which the Fostex can handle) is currently more than $250-that is the *discount price*.
Now take that one gig card and do $250x40gig= $10,000

Pick up a Korg D1200 mkII for only $849 from Sweetwater...(with 40 gig hard drive)

and you get a very good deal....

Check it out...

Well all I am looking to do is record their gigs, I do have a 512 meg card (not sure if it's an approved card yet) and I have two other 256 meg cards so space wouldn't be a problem, I could change cards if I have to.. I would love to be able to buy that korg or even an 1180cd but I'm trying not to spend too much money here... I appreciate y'alls help.
Thanks,
Jack
