after transferring files between my computer and mr8 a couple times, I started getting "card error 13" the second after I turned the machine on, and thus freezing the machine up. Can anyone help me please???

error 13

i got this before, it was imposable to get any help from anyone at fostex, what version of software are you running? According to the info i found, error 13 means you are going to have to update the cards files, easily done at fostex site. After two weeks of searching i had finally found it. problem was my card didnt want to update, i ended up sending it to fostex and they updated it and sent it back and no problems since...... fingers crossed

dont forget after you update the software, when you start the mr 8 up for the first time , hold down the stop button, then follow the screen prompts

I had that earlier today. I rebooted and reformatted and was fine.

error 13

problem is it will keep happening, until it doesnt work anymore, mine acted up for weeks before the end....

if you want to save some heartache later, upgrade the os

hey guys,
i JUST got this message today. i've been using this 512MB card for months without a problem (it's compatible with the MR-8). anyway, i'm not sure how to do any of the following suggestions:

-update the cards files
-update the software
-hold down the stop button

i know this sounds lame, and i'm no pro, but i'm also not a total novice. anyway, i'm just not sure how to do any updating (as i can't get the machine to turn on without that error).

thanks in advance!!!

update

go to fostex.com, download the latest version of the software, hook up mr8 to computer through usb, or put card in a card reader, unstuff the software, move it to the mr8 or cf card, disconnect mr8

reboot the mr8 with the new software onthe card, while it is starting up hold down the stop button, the screen will prompt you from there

I'm having the same Error 13 issue. Found all the software and instruction I need on the fostex website, but now I can also not get into the menu to turn on USB mode to update the software. When I put in a card it freezes the system and can't get into the menu. When I don't put in a card and hit the menu button it does nothing. Any ideas?

I know what I need to do, but I can't get into USB mode to transfer the software to fix it.

Do you have a card reader? You could put the CF card in the card reader and download the update on it instead of trying to enter the usb mode on the MR-8. Then just reinstall the card in the MR-8 and turn it on holding down the stop button and it should update the software.

I'm still having an issue with the error 13. I was able to get the software onto the CF card by using my digital camera as a card reader. But when i put it into the mr8 and hold down stop when i turn it on i just get a completely blank screen and still can't access the menu to execute the software upgrade

any ideas on what may be the problem?
