Hey. I'm new to recording. I heard some lectures on it and read a little about it, but I haven't done it firsthand. My band is planning to buy some stuff to record. I have pro tools on this computer, and we are going to record at the drummer's house, so all I really need is something to record on that is compatible with my computer. I need to be able to edit and mix tracks one at a time, so something that isn't multitracked won't do.
We were going to buy the MR-8. We figured that although we don't need all of it's features, we don't want to lose quality in recording. We're using pretty good mics (Shure SM58s), and we just want good quality. We don't need to do any editing on the 8 track at all, we just need it to transfer. Is there anything cheaper or of the same price range (around 300 bucks) that will get us better quality, or something that can get stuff from it to my computer multitracked good quality? Thanks a lot.
