My old college roomate just gave me a brand new MPC2000xl and I have been playing with it a little bit. For live guitar, unless it's about 4 bars or so, I wouldnt use a MPC. Im gonna see if I can sync it up with Sonar but overall, Im still favoring Sonar.

duke just gave it to you.... nice
i gotta start sending birthday and christmas cards to my college roomates even the one that could never find a place to sleep when i needed the room :D

There Are Three Ways You Can Go About It. One Way Is To Get A Midi Guitar (they Just Came Out) Another Way Is To Get Another Sampler And Record Your Guitar, Speed It Up And Then Resample It In The Mpc, And Then Slow It Down To The Right Tempo. That Will Save On Memory. Lastly Max Out Your Memory And Saple Your Guitar Straight Into The Mpc Good Luck.

You can do it live: Mic up the guitar (or put line in), then take the output from the board to the input of the MPC and sample. Or you can sample already recorded material.

My two.......

I dont use an MPC, but I do have a sampler! I've done a few guitar sampled cuts.

Depending on how complex the guitar riff is, I usually lay the drum track down on my recorder, then have the guitarist play over it for about a minute or so. If its complex, I just leave the riffs on the recorder and with with on there! But as far as sampling, once we get a few solid takes, I go threw each separate riff like the chorus part, verse, intro, etc., and find the best ones, from there I sample them to my sampler (well actually I import the wav file to it! Dont know if you can do that on an MPC!!) For me it comes out flawless!

Some advice no matter what!, if you can, get two separte guitar riffs for each part, like two separtly recorded loops that will be used in the verse and channel them left and right, it really makes a dope stereo sound! Good luck!
