Please Help!

My current setup is:
CPU Amd duron 2.4
Midiman usb midisport 4x4
Reason 2.5
Battery 2
Mpc2000xl
Motif 6
Triton rack
Proteus 2000

Do a lot of producers track their midi on DAW or MPC? Sometimes when I'm recording midi into Cubase it locks up on me. I heard about midi loop can freeze up your DAW. Currently I have the midi in's and out's connected to the Midisport 4x4. Should I disconnect the midi-outs from the modules except for the mpc and the motif 6 (controller) to avoid the midi loop? When I have the mpc as slave to cubase I'm not able to use the note repeat button. When I try to use the button, the sample is not in sync with the pattern. I load all of my samples in battery and use the pads on the mpc. By not being able to use the note repeat button I end up not using my mpc that much. What would be the best way to use the Mpc? I notice that the mpc has a certain goove to it when using it as the master. I have been using cubase to track midi and I have access to all patches within the sound modules. It's real user friendly to see what patch you want right on the screen.

First of all, what you heard is one sided story. Midi in and out works fine for alot of people (here), including me.

I'm not too sure what your asking? Are you have latency problems? Or functions simply not beeing picked up by Cubase?

I want to use the Mpc note repeat function in cubase. But, when attempt to use the note repeat it's not in time with Cubase. What should I do to solve this problem? Also, while changing my patches on my sound modules while my midi pattern is playing cubase locks up on me. Thats why I asked about connecting the midi out of the sound modules. Most diagrams show that you should connect the midi out of the pc or merger to the midi in of the sound module other than your keyboard controller. Is there any kind of way I can fix my midi latency? Currently I have the midi in's and out's connected to all my modules.

I'm afraid I can't help you. I don't use any midi modules/controllers other than my keyboard, so I wouldn't know.

You can sequence either thru MPC or Cubase what ever is comfortable for you. Alot of MPC owners sequence midi on the MPC and use Cubase for recording and mixing audio.
I dont know about the 2000xl, but as far as i know midi editing on the mpc3000 is non existing. But you can always send the midi info into cubase, edit there, then send it back to the MPC. Or you can just use the MPC as a sound module, some consider that a waste but to me there are alot of things that are just easier to do in Cubase.

The repeat note thing should work if you have the MPC properly slaved . For me midi clock sync works better that midi time code. Keep in mind that you cant start holding the keys until after record starts rolling. press the timing key too early and you'll just get the timing screen.

I have the MPC 1000.

I think you have something hooked up wrong or don't have one of the MIDI filters in cubase turned on.

I tried it bothe way I and I find building the tracks in the mpc then recording the audio to cubase with the MPC synced as slave works best for me.
