Hey guys.

Are there programs that are better than others at converting mp3's to wave when it comes to signal loss when decoding? I need something better than this crummy prog im using now. Thanks.

King.

Hmm..that's odd.

While mp3 is a lossy compression, wave is not! The wave should sound IDENTICAL to the mp3. You can't convert back from mp3 to wave and restore the original wave's quality!

Perhaps you need a better MP3 decoder (player)? Personally I use SCMPX for everything...it encodes wonderfully & decodes like it should. Search for SCMPX with infoseek & you'll find it right off.

what are you using now? winamp does a good job of decoding mp3's.

Well, I know exactly what you're talking about - I was using a dos-based windows front-end converter program to decode mp3s and the resulting wavs sounded s**te. Now I using audioactive mp3 decoder, and that works sweet. You can download it from http://www.audioactive.com/download/.

Hope that helps.
