Its impossible to convert a MP3 into a MOD. MODs are basically arrangements of sampled sound clips triggered in the same manner as SoundFonts are used. They came about with the introduction of the Commodore Amiga back in the late 80's/early 90's.

Why on earth would a company still use them and better yet, why would you want to do business with them if they are still stuck in the dark ages?

Technically, it should be possible, but highly unlikely that your customer will be happy with it. MOD files were created as sort of an upgrade from General Midi, with actual audio samples, but still small enough to be used in games. If you convert an entire MP3 file, it will become much bigger than the MP3 file itself, and probably way to big for the game it is intended for. Making MOD music is a skill on its own, just like making general midi music.

Just convert the MP3 to WAV format, strip the header, and create a MOD with a single event that triggers the playback of the song. :D

Seriously, I don't think you can do it. How are you going to separate the instruments from an MP3?

Ask a good tracker to just redo the thing. The best will be able to, and very quickly. of course, any money you make will go to them, because tracking is hard work, quite simply.

Tried that Konvertor! It lies let me tell you!

The company seems to want the files in .xm format! I can't complain, I want money!

I wouldn't be suprised that even if you manage to convert your files to .mod, the company will come back at you screaming the files are way to big for them to use.

that was their initial complaint about using mp3.

and actually i have a program called modplug that will play wav files and save them as .mod files, but they are no smaller than the original wav file...

Pretty much everything you need to know and download is here:

http://www.modplug.com

I use MODs often - every now and then I come across an obscure game that has the mods in an open file format (not hidden in a compressed file to be extracted during gameplay) and I'll replace their MODs with tunes I like :D

If you have any problems or questions just PM me...
