MP3 - Stereo vs Joint Stereo vs Dual Channel?

I'm about to convert a mixdown of one of my songs to MP3, and was just curious about the difference between stereo, joint stereo, and dual channel?

I'm using dBpowerAMP.

Use 'stereo'.

The other two sound like proprietary terms...

There's a free MP3 encoder out there called LAME which works with the also free Audacity --- LINK.
