I am using Real Jukebox to rip songs from audio CDs to MP3s. I then burn the MP3s to CD using Adaptec Direct CD (which allows me to drag and drop the MP3s to CD via Windows Explorer) and a backpack cd-rewriter. When I play the CD on my Sony MP3 CD player it seems to split the MP3s into smaller chucks until they are split into 300 files - the max for the player. When I play the MP3s a song will be interrupted a couple times as it seems to reach the end of each split file.

On the other hand, the CD/MP3s play fine on the PC and the files do not appear to be split in Windows explorer.

This is the second CD/MP3 player I've bought and they both behave this way.

Any ides why this is happening?

Sounds like REALLY poor trade-off.

Using a data CD (650 MB) and 128 Kbps encoded .mp3 files you should be able to store ~11 hours of tunz.

Why would you have to split anything?

Something else is going on!

I don't actually WANT the files to split. The MP3 player appears to be doing this on it's own. I want these MP3 files to stay intact, as they do when played on my PC.

For example, when I press play, the MP3 player takes a minute to read the disc. I see it counting up the tracks. Even though there are only, say, 25 or 30 MP3 files on the disc, it counts up to 300. Then when a 5 minute song plays, there is a break after about 60 or 90 seconds, then another break after another 60-90 seconds and so on.
