My trusty Archos Gmini XS 202 MP3 player has finally given up the ghost, and I have been looking around (in vain so far) for a player with similar specs..

Basically, I'm looking for a unit which acts like a simple external hard drive, as did the XS 202.

I would be grateful if people would point me in the direction of an MP3 player which meets the following requirements:

1. Large storage - preferrably 80 GB's or more, though I could make do ith 20GB at a minimum

2. Small (no larger than an iPod Classic).

3. Does not need any kind of proprietary software in order to upload or download music or files.

4. Can work with PC or Mac.

Thanks very much,

I just love my Zen Creative. You can even load and watch movies.

Hi Moresound,
Thanks for the message.

I thought that the Zen Creative was only PC compatible, and that one has to install and use specific software in order to upload and download files. Am I wrong about this? And could you say more about its specs. related to the requirements I outlined in my post?

In watching the review here
http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/creative-zen-32gb/4540-6490_7-32853777-4.html?tag=rnav
the reviewer said that the Zen Creative has 16GB's of internal flash memory storage, and a 16GB SD card. Does this mean that the 'advertised' 32GB's is a combination of the two types of storage?

If so, is there anything different (access time, for example) about accessing music or video stored on either the SD card, or in the internal memory?
Thanks, once again,
Gvdv.
