I uploaded 2 new tunes on mp3.com early last week
and they're still not active. They used to get new tunes
up in a day or so.Anyone else having a problem? Is it
this Premium service they now offer? Can anyone tell
me of a better way to post my songs(i.e.a storage
service)where I dont have to categorize my material
or wait for their approval.Any feedbac would be appreciated!

Nope. You're screwed. :D

Hey, WHATEVER you do, don't go Lycos. I don't think I've ever gotten a complete download the first time on any sites hosted by Lycos.

I think what happened is folks started joining the "premium" service from MP3.com when the whole payback for playback shit started, and part of being "premium" is getting your songs approved first. So, beelzebub, you and I can just sit here with our thumbs up our ass, cuz there's NO WAY they're getting $20 a month from me.

Unless I make $20 or more a month, duh. (Riiiiiiight... :D)

Thanx kelly!
Its probably been six months since Ive posted a new tune 'cause I built a new DAW and had to learn how to use it.I guess I can wait another (?)few days!Bastards
aint gettin'no 20 bucks outa me either!!!!

What he said! Yeah, you'll be able to post your tune on Lycos and be able to "see" it sitting there immediately, but that's all it will do is sit there. You might be able to stream it or download it from your site to your computer (I think it has something to do with the fact that the data came from your computer in the first place), but no one else will be able to, and isn't that the whole idea? I'm with Kelly. I too just loaded some music onto mp3.com, and I sit and wait patiently, for I realize that when mp3.com finally gets around to approving the non-premium stuff, at least it will be available for others to listen to. Tom.

just an idea

its been over a week since i posted on mp3.com also, and it isnt approved yet. i have a lycos page, and kelly said he had trouble getting to it. what DOES seem to work well for me is garageband.com. its free and the music goes up in a few days,BUT,there is a slight catch.you have to listen to and evaluate TWENTY of other peoples songs!just my opinion,it was pretty hellish. i had to listen to genres i dont normally listen to.not that im not open minded, but theres some styles i just dont like.does anyone know how much it costs to start and maintain a personal website? startup fees, monthly fees,is it hard to register a domain name? would it be possible for the "regulars" here to set up such a site, sharing the cost, and being free to post whatever mp3 theyd like? i would think that theres probably a limit of how much space could be used. so a time limit could be worked out, keeping each song on the site for about a two weeks.just enough time to get listened to,and have people give advice, and feedback on the mix, etc.then you make room for new songs. im sure it could get could get a little complicated, but its just an idea i had. anyways...happy easter!

MP3.com sucks these days.....

Get ready to wait a long time!! It took them a month to get one of mine up there. I ain't paying them no freaking 19.95 a month either. I have had real good luck at IUMA.com. Maybe it's not flashy, but the downloads work perfect ( at least a lot of people have been successful at my site) and they get it up in a couple of days. Actually, you have much more control over your page at IUMA, you can make it look alot more personal. Give them a shot, can't hurt! I told MP3 to shove their new ideas where the sun don't shine, who in the hell needs them anyway???

very simple ------------ pay and its up within 2 days
Don't pay and its up in about 10 days --- if you're lucky

Actually I have a sight at IUMA(I have a royalty check for 6cents).
I thought they went out of buisiness!I'll check it out.

What's good about garageband.com: your song goes up pretty fast, and when you review songs, you not only earn more song upload credits, but every 20 reviews earns you a CD at HMV online.

What's not so good about garageband.com: it requires you to use Real Player, one of the most irritatingly intrusive pieces of software I've had the misfortune to download and use. So much so, that I uninstalled it and stopped listening to reviews. I've racked up enough credits for loads of uploads, but if I can find a better alternative to gb.com, I'll take it so as not to impose Real Player on anyone else.

I'm not paying mp3 $20 a month either.

So right now, the alternatives seem to be: IUMA, or my own website. I can get a domain name and a business license (you have to be a business in Singapore to get a website) for about $70 a year. What do you think? Worth it? I don't know anything about creating web pages. Would this turn into a learning curve monster that took loads of time away from writing/recording/practising/mixing/surfing sites like this one?

Dobro with teh amount of time you spend here you don't have time to do anything else! :)

I agree with your garageband.com attitude. Realplayer sucks. And the sound quality of what the ultimate listener's going to hear is so bad you might as well not even take the time to get a good mix. Go ahead and listen to a few songs there. I've uploaded a few songs there, and I review music for the CD giveaways but that's about it. There are so many bands there with songs up in the contests that it's a joke. The free CD every month is nice though!

I gots to check that IUMA sheeeeat out, doe.

I had I-drive, that was awfull.

Now I'm using Lycos, I've only seen download trouble once. Songs upload imediatlly. Direct link to each individual song. So far it's free. Less fancy than MP3.com.

Can't complain.

That site that sjoko is using seems pretty cool.

www.nowhereradio.com

Their user interface and (lack of) search facilities sucks but they seem very honest otherwise. Like GarageBand on Steroids.

Plus the level of talent seems pretty high.

And Lycos is also a good choice.
