As of 1/01/03 MP3.com will only allow non-premium artists to have 3 songs available on their page at one time. You can have more than 3 songs uploaded but only 3 available on your page at a time. You can change the songs listed on the page anytime you like, but again you can have no more than 3 showing at one time.

I know a lot of people are going to pissed about this one. Just wanted to let you know if you haven't heard yet.

Yeah, I just got an e-mail about this (I recently signed up for an MP3 account), it is getting piss annoying how they keep wanting to push the idea for getting paid - the entire point is that the artists who sign-up don't have that much money 2 push into it or they would be recording in big time studios and getting record deals.

I always preferred Nowhere.

Yeah that does suck for the non premium member who got some heat and use the site as a promotional tool... But there are other site..... IUMA , NoWhere and soundclick......

Diggy,....

I have an IUMA, Nowhereradio and Peoplesound.com site as well as MP3. At first I liked MP3, if you remember they used to pay you royalties on page hits (or song plays can't remember which) which was kind of cool. The checks were never very big, but cool none-the-less.

They have since pulled that feature, have added longer approval times and now they're pulling this shit. I guess we'll just have to see what happens next, probably will see the removal of non-premium artist sites all together in the not so distant future. Hopefully, MP3 is ready to take a hit in popularity.

Nowhere is the best site right now IMHO, no approval time, faster uploads and the ability to upload tracks at higher bandwidth. If only they would add the ability to upload images and info to the singles pages. The space they give you is limited but is free and not restricted like MP3.

Stray, I'm working on NWR4 (NoWhere revision 4) as we speak, and there will be many more options to affect the 'look' of your artists pages when it is released.

There will be some changes as far as bandwidth on streams however, hi-fi streamed playback will be capped at 128k, to prevent listener complaints from people who don't have extremely good connections, however the option will still be there to have the download be exactly what was uploaded.

There's also about 900 other features being added on, and a complete new look, so keep your eyes open.

Big thanks Waldo :)!! I actually just found the message boards over at Nowhere and read up on the discussions regarding the changes.

I didn't see it proposed, but as a broke musician I don't have extra money to throw in for support, but I'd be more than happy to donate some music for a compilation album. The proceeds of course with go back into the site. Just a thought and thanks again.
