Moving and duplicating with range tool

In the manual on p.67

To move a selection range, click and drag it to a new position.
This will move the contents of the selection range to the new position.
If the range intersected events or parts, these will be split before moving, so that only the sections within the selection range are affected.

Actually for me, when I do that, it seem they stamp one on top of the other. Do you guy's have the same result?
