For my 3'x4' control room window, I'm going to use 2 sheets of 1/4" laminated glass separated by approx 7". I looked into thicker laminated glass but the price goes way up. I'm mounting them in parallel as I've read that angling one doesn't help all that much, and the window will still be much better than the solidcore door sitting right next to it
, at least according to this site:

My question today is how to mount the glass? I had planned on using butyl caulk (recommended by an inlaw in the glass biz but not much experience with studios) with some dessicant between the panes. But a different glass guy I talked with today says to avoid all caulk and instead suggests using common stick-on weatherstripping (the kind from Homey Depot). The glass guy says the dessicant is unnecessary when caulk isn't used. I dunno but it seems like some kinda caulk and some dessicant wouldn't hurt. What about acoustic caulk? Without caulk, what do I rest the glass itself on? I also saw that someone here put rigid fiberglass between the panes. I could do that, but any idea how much it helps? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!
