Does anyone have any experience with this?
.....what i want to do is sync up a computer daw, and a standalone daw to work together real time. I have adat capability, so im thinking of going that route. I just want to be sure that i have a dead perfect lock with the sync. Ive read a little about this unit...and it sounded like it would be perfect.
......any input is greatly appreciated.
......thank much, Mike

Motu Dtp

I used one for about a year in a rig that tied a ProTools Mac, a Digital Performer Mac and a rack of Tascam DA-88s. The unit was purchased because at the time there was nothing in the price range that would do all it claimed to do, plus, since DP was a big part of the equation, the built in integration seemed a plus. We found that it performed 75% of its functions well, 15% very hit or miss, and 10% not at all. We ended up working around its actual behaviour as opposed to its advertised one. Perhaps with your different needs it would work well, but we found it did not work as flawlessly as we were led to believe it would, and MOTU, while not horrible at responding and sending ROM upgrades (IIRC. This was around 2000), they did not resolve the issues we had.

I have no beef with MOTU. It's a difficult market to manufacture for. But I don't have a good feeling about their hardware in general.
