HI ,I'm looking to get one of this two ,I can get them for about the same price 600 dollars ,which one should I get? and why .(I'm recording drums and I need 8 preamp inputs)
any feedback is appreciated ,thanks PAUL

Do you mean the MOTU 828 or the MOTU 896? Isn't the 896 a lot more than $600? Are you looking at a used 896?

yes ,there are a couple on e-bay and I might be able to get a motu 896 for about 6 or 700 from another country ,and yes is a motu 896
thanks

You can't go too far wrong with either unit. I'm happy with the firepod. MOTU owners seem happy with their gear. It's really down to the features you need, and after that, price

I own the Firepod - it works very well for my needs. The MOTU looks good too, although I'm not positive of the sonic differences between the two. Seems like the 896 might have better converters, but that's only on paper and I haven't heard it in action. I'm pleased with the sound of the converters on the Firepod as well as the pre-amps - pretty decent bang-for-the-buck IMO.

I`ve heard good things about the motu.
I own a firepod and so far so good, no problems what so ever just sweet recording.

i like my FIREPOD a lot and use it for all my recordings seems to do the job well enough but hey if you can get something nicer at the same rate then go for it...

The firepod is pulling more ,just because of the reviews that I read and also comes with cubase ,which I'm familiar with.
Thanks for the feedback. Paul

Oh yeah, if you go with the Firepod, they throw in a 4-channel Headphone amp ($99 value) if you purchase before August 31.
