Well, the prices on the original are so much cheaper these days, I'm curious as to what exactly is so much better on the new version? Are the preamps and A/D converters that much better? Tell me everything you know :D

Cheers

I have an 828mk2 and am very impressed.

Differences:

The MK2 has 8 analog TRS inputs as opposed to 6.
The pre's are higher quality than MK1.
FX Sends for both mic pres (I don't think the Digi's even have this)
Midi IO
SMPTE

I'm not sure about the MK1 but the cuemix on the MK2 allows for 4 separate stereo monitor mixes so when you're tracking, each musician can have their own monitoring mix. (drummer's like it different than vocalists)

Also, it functions as a standalone digital mixer so you don't need to drag that ugly beige box to gigs when you just need it to function as a mixer.

Sorry to dig this up again :D

I don't get how it costs loads more for the 828MK2. Am I missing something?

I've seen cheap 828's that I could get for $450

I only really need 6 inputs, don't need to use the pre's on the board, thus wont need the FX sends on the pres, already have a breakout Midi box, and am too ignorant to even know what SMPTE is :D

Is the MK2 really worth it?
