Hi
I'm trying to setup my motu 2408 with xp pro. I grabbed the latest drivers and when installing I get an error on the wave drivers. It says the device cannot start (code 10) the gsif and asio drivers go in fine. I installed the software, shutdown. Installed the card and have the breakout rack connected and turned on when I reboot. I also have a SBLive in there running wdm drivers.
Can anyone help out on this?

thanks.
scott.

...Aaarggghhh... The SB is the cause. Creative's driver sucks. Generate cons more than it's pros. Have you try take it off ?

No I haven't...yet, and I need the damn thing for midi right now. Is there a solution? What if I install the motu then the SBLive? Any thoughts. thanks.

Hi girvan,

Make sure the Motu PCI card is not sharing an
IRQ with any other device on your computer.
This is very important!

Would you mind giving me a brief walkthrough of how I could check this and change it if needed? I'm not sure how to change IRQ settings.
thanks.

I managed to find the IRQ settings and they are both using IRQ 9. Darn things. But I don't know how to change this. Probably a BIOS thing I would expect. Any help would be awesome.
thanks.

I tried manually assigning IRQs in the BIOS but no luck I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing. My mobo is an asus cuv4x.
I switched the pci-324 card from slot 2 to 5 but still no luck. I keep getting an error 10 saying it can't start the device. The gsif drivers work ok according to the device manager but the wave drivers won't go. helppppppppppppppppppp~! You pay for an OS and a (presumably) decent card and this is what you get.
thanks
scott.

irq

start
control panel
system
hardware
device manager
sound video and game controllers
check to see if conflicts between soundcards if there is change irqs but do not use 1,6,12 or any other pre assigned irqs

thanks for the replies. I checked the device manager and there is no apparent conflict. My motu card and SBlive are both on irq 9 though. There is a yellow exclamation mark beside the wave driver for the motu card. I can't start it. what can I do. btw I'm not entirely sure how to change irq settings.

thanks everyone. I hate for this to drag on . maybe I should ebay the 2408 and get a delta1010...ha,ha

The motu drivers for the pci324 from Nov work much better than the most current ones do...at least in XP that makes a huge difference.

thanks for the link. great stuff! Looks like I should do a clean install (again) an do the F5 Standard PC thing. Drat. I mean it's good to get close to a solution but to reformat. Thats a drag. maybe I should go back to win2K pro.

Thanks a lot folks. If you have any other ideas I won't format till tomorrow.
later

Would you have a link to the Nov driver files? I've got the march ones.
thanks.
scott.

HI again.
A bit of a bump ^^ and still looking for Nov drivers for the MOTU 2408. I've been lookin high and low and did reinstall XP as Standard PC. Now it is on IRQ 10 and my SBLive is on 11. But the darn wave driver for the PCI-324 still won't start.......drat.
Any other suggestions. win98SE maybe?
thanks.
