Anyone has this setup: MOTU 2408 and Pro Audio 9 or Sonar?
Any comments on this, is it as good as they say?
If it works like they say at www.motu.com ....it is heaven´s sent!!!

Sorry!!!! I should had post this at Cakewalk forum...........

It's cool. I know where you're going with this. I'm running a 2408mkII, two ADATs and a BRC into Cakewalk 9 and it works like a champ.

What I´m going to do is throw this ADAT PCR to the face of the salesman who told me this was the ULTIMATE in audio!!!!
and get that credit card to get the 2408, so the one who is going to worry now will be Mr. American Express...........

Thankx again to you all.

sistegraf, let me tell you a long story. I bought the Alesis PCR card when it first came out and couldn't make it work. Took my computer to the music dealer that I bought the card from to see if they could make it work. They ganked the whole computer so I took it back home along with another new PCR card to re-install the operating system and try a new card. That one wouldn't fly either. A call to Alesis tech support for a little assistance confirmed what I thought, they were having a lot of problems with compatibility with certain PCs, mine being one of them.
Another member of this forum (Sonusman) wanted to get a class action lawsuit going over this card. I know there are some folks here that are running this card and it's working for them, I'm just not one of them. I went to MOTU without passing GO or collecting $200 and lived happily ever after. End of story.

Calkwalk (Sonar) and the MOTU 2408 work great together.

What about MMC...Will I be able to control the ADATs from within Cakewalk or will I need a special synchronizer.....

Thank you again!!!

Hi sistegraf,

I just got the Motu 2408MkIi and have it running with
2 Adats slaved together and lightpiped out through the
Motu. It works great, but is not synced to anything. I
just press record on the computer and play on the Master
Adat or vice-versa and use it that way.

If you use the Adat sync cables you would get at least a
synced start. If you had an external timecode generator
such as the Motu Digital Timepiece then you could control
the Adats start, stop, pause etc. controls from Cakewalk.

Hope this helps!

Mike

(By the way....thanks Trackrat for the advice!!)

Thank you again!!!

If you are using ADATs and want to sync them up with Cakewalk you will need a BRC or some thing like JL Coopers DataSync:
http://www.jlcooper.com/pages/datasync2.html

I had to do this back on ver 3 of Calkwalk with a black face ADAT before they had audio built into the software (Just Midi). Then I had to SLAVE the PC to the ADAT.

Just recently I was using two ADATs as AD/DA converters. Since my audio was stored on the PC and played through Cakewalk, I did not have to sync up the ADAT's for MTC or MMC. The word clocks on the ADATs had to be sync'd up to the MOTU 2408, but that is fairly simple to do.

You could record to ADAT then dump the material to the PC using the lightpipes in the MOTU 2408.
