Hello all. I just picked up an original Motu 2408 on ebay and I have 2 Tascam TM-D1000 mixers on the way. The mixers support bits from 16 to 24 but the original motu tops out at 20 I believe. I've had 24 bit interface before so I'm a bit worried about signal. I guess my main question is, is this considered a major downgrade? I'm truncating the signal from 24 to 20?
I read on another forum that the Tascam is not a clean 24-bit signal (it can hover in the 20-24 region?) and that means it will work with the mixer ok. The bottom line, I bought this interface because I would like 24 channels digital I/O and it has 3 adat opticals and 3 TDIF's. Am I going to end up wanting a different interface eventually? Will I notice a huge difference from the 24-bit I'm used to compared to a 20-bit at 44.1 KHZ?
