the big question would be,

do you have a mixer that can send more than 8 to 10 seperate signals into the computer?

can your mixer handle 16 to 24 tracks of playback?

do you have at least 1 really nice outboard reverb to use with the mixer's aux sends?

do you even want to mix analog?

Also make sure you check into compatibility with your PC/Mac. Motus don't play nice with some PC's. That is a fact. The following is just my opinion after battling Motu products for quite some time. Unless you are going with or have a Mac, go with the 1010. Also...call and/or email each companies tech support line before you buy and see how long it takes to get a response. If you do this, I'm bettin' your goin' with the 1010!

monte, what do you mean by they dont work well with "some PC's?" does this mean they dont work with random ones or just slow ones? i have a very capable pc if that clears anything up?

im getting a 24 channel mixer so its really not a matter of how many channels (ill get three 1010s if needed) i was just wondering which one has the best overall performance or sound quality

thanks guys

Nothing beats Motu's converters, go with the Motu, I've worked with teh old 2408, new 2408, and 308, they al work great without any problem, also very easy to expand when ever you need.

I work in PC too with my Motu and never had any problem (both Win 2000 and Win Xp), Dont get a wrong idea that Motu only works with Mac.

It's mostly PC's with certain Via chipsets. Check out the FAQ's on their website. There's also some good info at unicornation.com. I wasn't implying that you can't use MOTU with PC's. It's just more difficult on SOME PC's to make things work. If you have an Intel processor and chipset, you probably won't have any problems. I'd still prefer the 1010, but that's only my preference.
