Has anyone used the MOTU 2048 PC recording system. I was reading the specs and it sounds pretty freaking awesome!! Especially because I will be using it in conjuction with my TMD-1000 mixer.

Also, I have a P2 300 with 256MB RAM ... will this be sufficient? They say that a P2 200 is fine, but I'm thinking that with multiple effects going, it might slow down. Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

http://www.pricewatch.com Checkout that site and upgrade your CPU. Depending on how many and what effects you will use it might get tight with that speed processer. RAM wise your ok but if you can more is always nice.

As a frame of reference, using Logic Audio I was pushing an overclocked Celeron @ 375 to its limits with about 12-16 tracks and a handful effects. With a PIII 800 It's handling everything I throw at it without breaking a sweat (so far, 24 tracks & tons of effects). You can get a PIII 800 for under $200 now, so get at least that and you should be happy.

I've been using the 2408 mkII for about a year now and love it.Just to echo the comment on your computer, It might groan if you tried to transfer 24 tracks at a time. I upgraded to a P III 700 MHz with256 MEGs of ram and it don't break a sweat either.
