Motu 1296

Does anybody know about the MOTU 1296? I'm wondering whether the preamps are going to be quality enough without a mixer. I sure would like to get somthing with 12 inputs but I can't afford a 1296 and a mixer.

the 1296 has no pre amps involved. Those come seperately.
I think presonus has an 8 channel pre amp worth checking.
Otherwise its mackie time.
