I have a breautiful ROland digital piano. the Keys are great! However the sounds don't compare with the Motif. I would like to get a Motif 8 and sell my Roland for $500.00(I already have a buyer) and I can invest that $500 towards the expensive Motif 8. But I love my piano, and I am selling it only because I need the money. It's also got built in speakers. I play keyboard alot....(though i am a guitarist)

My question is about the Motif Rack. Does it have all the functions of a motif keyboard..like arpegggiator etc? and what about latency? How will it sound if i played the Motif Rack with my piano? I can also keep my piano and get a used Motif 6.

Any ideas or suggestions folks?
Thanks in advance!

MoRack has no sequencer, no sampler, better filters (hence an even more refined sound), and a piano that's probably better than what your Roland's putting out.

You can surely control a MoRack with your Roland board provided it has a MIDI OUT jack.

What do you mean by "latency?" I guess, if you're not dealing with the issues of HD recording and simultaneous realtime monitoring you've got nothing to worry about unless you're sending a billion midi notes down the same line at the same time or have a bottleneck happening somewhere. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you unless you're piling midi gear together and bashing on all the keys & buttons. If you aren't having issues now, you probably won't by adding 1 TG.

If you don't need the sequnecer or sampler, get yourself a MoRack and be very, very happy...

If you really want info on the Rack vs. the keyboard version, check here...

If you're only in it for the sounds, just get the Motif Rack. As FLO said, you won't be getting the sequencer or sampler, which you probably don't need anyway, and that way you don't have to pay for them either.

You will have no problem running the rack from your Roland keys, provided you have a MIDI out on the Roland.

Thanks Guys,
Yes I can control the Rack with my Piano they do have MIDI and currently I am controlling my JV1010 with the piano. How howabout the Arpeggiator? Does it have one?
I will read up on that link you posted Flo'.
