When I called my dealer to find out about a new motherboard that will support ATA66, I was told that all they have is MB's that include soundcards + video cards.

I have been told to keep away from such kind. The dealer told me that I can disable the cards but I'm secptical about doing it.

Can anybody please recommend a MB that does not include the cards and will support ATA66 ?.

I'll need brand names and if possible numbers or other details that come with it.

Thanks !

do you have a processor in mind?
we could narrow it down from there.

Any MB with the new Intel 820 chip set will support ATA66. They are just starting to ship. Try SuperMicro site or Tyan, Asus. They will all be shipping with the 820 chip set.

Yes, avoid "integrated" motherboards like the plague. Don't even bother.

Abit makes some boards with onboard highpoint ATA/66 controllers. I use the BE-6 which is pretty nice (there are newer models now of course).
