What does THIS button do?
So I think I got my toms tuned in to where I want them, they go something like D, F, G, C, D (lowest to highest) but the high D is higher than my snare. I would just simply tune my snare higher, but the head on it is really tight already. Should I not worry about it or should I try to get my snare tuned higher?

I'd say it should be fine, 'cause yeah usually you want the snare to be tuned higher than the toms, but you have 5 toms, so the rules are probably different. Don't ask "the right way" because it's the right way when you like it.

The rules what rules, dude just use your ears, your ears are smarter then your mind, let them tell you your problems.

word... I guess I have to give my dad the vista lite snare back so, I might buy a new one. I might try to get a piccolo snare. I like the high-pitch crack and plus they are cheaper?
I'm gonna get my old snare out and try to rig it so the snares stay on it (some kid broke it before i bought the kit, idiot) and try to tune it up. I guess if I have to tune it so high and the heads get messed up I should get a new snare.
Later.

There are really 2 kinds of thinking that I've noticed about this topic on different forums. I DEFINITELY agree with Brad C's comment...here's the 2 things I've always heard on this.

1. "Tune your snare with the snares "off", making it the highest in pitch. Adjust snare tension for sound"........BLAH!!! RUBBISH! hehehe I don't like this method.

2. Tune the toms at intervals that sound good, tune the bass in accordance with the sound of your toms (boomy, punchy, etc...), and tune the snare on it's own. To me, the snare is kind of on it's own. It and the bass are the 2 drums in a song that normally drive the tune. THERE ARE NO RULES. Unless I'm producing your million dollar album (keep me in mind someday hehe), there's no reason why I should be able to say you need to have a snare with a "crack", or a lot of "depth"......go with what you feel & hear, and try to make sure your personal tastes do the most important thing of all......compliment the song and style of music that you are playing.

i dont ever tune my drums to specific notes. I do what feels/sounds right. Dont worry about where your snare is note wise...its a waiste of time!

I dont tune to specific notes but I tune my toms to play "Taps" the song. It works real good. I start by getting the large rack tom where I want it then work from there. Works every time!

That's pretty cool.
I always have them tuned to specific intervals, and the snare is usuall just a halftone higher or lower then the highest tom. If you 'tune it to where it sounds good' you will usually end up at specific notes and harmonic intervals because the shell resonance usually has a specific note. (my whole set has, with the exeption of my bassdrum which is between g and g#)
